Furuya Ryokan is a luxury Ryokan. When you arrive you are greeted by a handful of staff. They will help you with your shoes and your host will guide you to your room showing and explaining everything you need to know and where to find everything. She'll serve you some tea and get some Yukatas ready matching your size. After the introductions you can enjoy a nice bath in the public bath (resevered for hotel guests of course). Our room had a spacious hot tub outside which we also enjoyed. Dinner and breakfast is served in the room by the host who guided you to your room earlier on. The menu was amazing with many small dishes where you can discover various delicacies! Once dinner is over another person will get your futons ready and you can enjoy a good night's sleep! We were amazed by this Ryokan, the devotion and passion of the staff making everything for an unforgettable stay!

The staff was amazingly attentive and provided exceptional service throughout our stay. The food was phenomenal and the amenities are wonderfully stocked. The kaiseki dinner was exquisite and I would say the chef and cooks at Furuya deserves the highest praise for the food was outstanding with a well thought out menu highlighting the season’s produce and local ingredients. Although most of the staff spoke little English, they tried their best to ensure that they understood our needs and helped make our stay comfortable and pleasant. The room was large, spacious and very comfortable even with the simple furnishings. The private rotenburo bath which source its water from the hot spring was the other highlight of our stay. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance.

We had a brilliant stay here. Atami is small and vibrant. The ryokan came at just the right time in our trip. The staff are incredible and our room attendant Runa was so sweet and an absolute star. We loved her. We stayed in a Japanese style room and we are so happy we did. We had a private bath for when we weren’t up to the public bath but either is a delightful experience. Follow the kind guidance and you’ll be fine. The breakfasts and dinners served in the room were astounding in both quality and quantity. We had the Japanese menu and it was superb. The futons are made up for you each night and were really comfortable. There are also chairs if/when you need them. We cannot wait to return!

The place was beautiful and close to the train station, which was good. We were well received and introduced to our attendant, Ami, who was very nice and attentive. The dinner was an incredible experience, and the breakfast as well (just be ready to eat many dishes during dinner and breakfast, just a heads-up). It was very relaxing to have our own onsen in the room, and we slept well on our futons. Atami was a cute city to visit, I recommend taking a tour before leaving. All in all a perfect stay for our honeymoon!

Breakfast and the kaiseki dinner were both in-room and exceedingly delicious and wonderful. The ofuro/outdoor bath was immensely relaxing, restorative and transforming (be sure to shower completely before entering even though it's private). The staff were formal, friendly and hospitable. This was easily my most favourite stay (one night) of the entire 14 day visit to Japan. I'd love to stay here again, but the price is high (understandably so). Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience to be cherished.
